4 Bad Beard Habits That Will Give You a Patchy Beard 2019

Pulling on Beard

“He who sacrifices his beard for a woman deserves neither”

Welcome back to Bearded Crew’s Blog, the home of all things bearded.

Whether as a first timer or even after many years of being bearded, one day you may notice… Patches. In. The Beard!!!

“OH NO, what happened? What do I need to do? Should I just shave it and start over?”

Slow down! Don’t kill your beard! Before you try eating a bunch of beard growth pills and a new yogurt diet plan, relax. There are a few different steps to go before thinking all hope is lost. Consider these 4 tips that will help fix your patchy beard.

1. Stop Playing With Your Beard

Do you sometimes notice beard hairs wrapped around your finger? Do you constantly play with your beard while thinking?

You may have developed a terrible habit of playing with your beard, spinning it around and around as you contemplate your next big success story.

The short answer is to stop doing it. Pay more attention to where your fingers go in your times of reverie, and soon that mane will be back to its lush consistency.

2. Itchy Beard Syndrome (IBS)

Itchy Beard Syndrome The follicles of your face naturally produce sebum to moisturize your skin. When you grow your mane out, your face requires more oil (sebum) to keep your skin healthy and nourished.

Chances are if you are not using beard oil in your beard grooming routine you might experience the terrible Itchy Beard Syndrome.

I’ve heard men say this is the reason they shave their face. If your balls itched would you cut them off?

I didn’t think so! Luckily using the right beard oil is all you need to do to STOP THE ITCH.

Bearded Crew’s Sweet Dreamz beard oil is the only beard oil on the market specifically made to use before bed. Let this soft scent ease your mind and keep your skin nourished all night long!

3. Using All Natural Beard Wash and Conditioner

There are two things you should be cautious about as you maintain your beard.

One, unless you fall into a pool of Hal’s Jalapeño dip, you only need to wash the beard about 2-3 times a week with shampoo.

Second, using a shampoo that isn’t intended for beards can dry your skin out. This will start the Itchy Beard Syndrome process, which in return lead to scratching bald patches.

Make sure you use a top-quality beard wash. When you do that washing, work your fingers all the way through and down to the point you are massaging the skin a bit.

Us long-time veterans of the beard game have a secret that helps keep our beards clean and stay hydrated AT THE SAME TIME, its called Co-washing.

Any time you wash your mane with shampoo or soap you should be using conditioner right after. Find yourself a nice organic conditioner, preferably one made for face furr.

Now, here’s the trick. You can use beard conditioner as a cleansing agent to shampoo your beard. It will clean your face and keep it hydrated!

Instead of shampooing 2-3 times a week try using a conditioner 2-3 times a week and only throw in some shampoo on those seriously dirty days.

4. Not Feeding The Beard

Food that grows a healthy beard Look, You can’t build a house without bricks. The same concept applies to the beard.

See, your luscious chin forest is made from protein and fat.

It’s also heavily reliant on Vitamins B5, B3, and B9. That means lean meats, nuts, egg yolks, milk, and plenty of leafy greens.

You want to get that beard and body kickin? Maintain a healthy diet, get 6-8 hours of sleep, and soon your beard patches will start to fill in.

The most important tip is to have confidence and let your face fur grow for a long while. Over time, areas of strong growth will cover up your patchy areas. You will also notice some little hairs starting to sprout for the first time after a couple of months. We recommend trying to grow out a yeard.

Till next time my Bearded Crew. Grow it, tend it, and lovingly oil it. Namaste.
